Since then, the founding members played in many different bands covering a multitude of musical styles and genres. Fast forward to now; never to be musically complacent, the time seemed appropriate to circle back to where “the campers” last left off. Additional new members afforded the band to expound musically performing Grateful Dead and improvisational jams with passion and authenticity. Mariachi Los Camperos

Grammy-nominated Mariachi Los Camperos’ abundant accolades and performances on premier concert stages can easily obscure the fact that its leaders come from humble roots deep within a mariachi tradition. The group’s founder, Nati Cano, forged his own mariachi group in 1961 from his artistic vision and determination. Until his death in 2014, he challenged the attitudes that led formally trained musical peers to look down on his beloved rural and working-class music. In the words of Jesús “Chuy” Guzmán, his disciple and successor as Camperos leader, “He wanted to have a mariachi that would have dignity, that would have heart, that would have soul, and he made Los Camperos.”

Box of Weapons: Dirt Nap Dogma, No Advocate, Glass Mother, Filth Spewer, URO, Sasquatch ONI

Dirt Nap Dogma (nu-hardcore) Part math, part nu-metal, all hardcore. Raw noise in a flurry of carefully crafted sounds. No Advocate (metalcore) Upcoming titans with no remorse, no slowing down. Hard-hitting and ferocious energy, powered by some of the best musicians in the metal scene. Equivalent to cold steel, these guys are sharp as knives. Filth Spewer (tech-death) Long-time showstoppers that place their bet on chaotic riffs, deadly screams and banging drums, filling the air with integral filth. A mainstay in the past few years, always bringing their best to the game. Glass Mother (dreamcore) Newest on the block but built with love, this dreamcore band aims to take screamo and shoegaze and present it in a way that’ll catch you off guard. Beautiful riffs with pained vocals and punk drums that keep you on your toes. URO (goth-punk) The 574’s young staple for gothic punk returns, bringing the beauty and grunge you remember back to the stage. Searing vocals with memorable harmonies and addictive guitar riffs, the early 2000’s haunting energy returns alongside them. Having been years since their last show, they’re back from the dead and feeling refreshed. Sasquatch Oni (trip-hop) A producer first and disc jockey second, Sasquatch Oni brings a mixture of trip-hop and industrial ambient sounds to life. Heavily inspired by survival horror games of old; and finding a way to express the beauty hidden inside.

    Jonathan Moyer, organ

Organist Jonathan Moyer, last on the 2016 Presenting Series, returns for an awe-inspiring performance that blends virtuosity with profound musical insight. His program, The Life and Works of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621), is composed entirely of compositions by the great Dutch master. The program will offer Sweelinck's vast and diverse keyboard compositions as a biographical window into the fascinating world of sixteenth-century Amsterdam. Moyer's recital is a sonic experience that fills the hall with everything from fanfare to full swell, all the Fritts Organ's voices sounding with grandeur and emotion. Our longtime organ enthusiasts demand these recitals, and growing numbers want to explore one of music's most commanding forms. This hour-long concert provides respite and inspiration in an afternoon interlude.

Sonorous Present: Songs of Border Crossings, Sunrises, and Mournings

An immersive poetic and musical passage, Sonorous Present extends sonic meditations on loss, migration, and memory across America's borderlands, as physical place and liminal space. What began as an experimental and improvised performance in 2019—inspired by the music and poetics of Alex E. Chávez's award-winning book Sounds of Crossing—was subsequently reimagined as a studio album in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning producer Quetzal Flores, and featuring luminaries from the worlds of traditional Mexican son and jazz—including, Aloe Blacc (2015 Grammy Award nominee), Martha Gonzalez (2022 MacArthur Fellow), Ramón Gutiérrez (of Son de Madera), Roger Reeves (Guggenheim Fellow, National Book Award finalist, and Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and Griffin Poetry Prize recipient), and Lucía Gutiérrez Rebolloso (winner of the 2022 Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition). This performance of the studio album integrates an epic spectrum of Regional Mexican and Latin American folk elements with jazz, poetry, dance, field recordings, and ethnographic songwriting that crosses the sunburst surreal of America's musical and cultural borderlands.

    The Traveling Salvation Show

The Traveling Salvation Show is a one-of-a-kind tribute to the legendary Neil Diamond. Often described as “Neil Diamond’s greatest hits performed by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra”, this high energy performance captures the energy of Mr. Diamond’s live arena concerts and includes a visual spectacular with over 40 fixtures that include moving lights, sparks, geysers and lasers. Bottom line: it’s “so good, so good, so good!”. The show is fronted by Brother Love himself, Mr. Jay Henke who many fans have commented sounds uncannily like Neil Diamond. While not a visual “impersonator”, Jay’s vocals pay a true homage to what fans of Mr. Diamond would expect to hear at a tribute show. Next come the incomparable Diamond Ladies, our incredible backing trio made up of Leigha Sronce, Courtney Walker and Liz White. There are no “auto-tune” units in sight with these ladies, and each one of them will take center-stage at one point during the performance to pay their unique homage to Mr. Diamond. Finally, the Salvation Show Band impeccably recreates the sound of Neil’s famous NDRRT musicians, bringing the sound, energy and arrangements that are hallmarks of that group to the Salvation Show stage. Dan Farroll and Jeff Pawlow play keys, Jeff Lewis and Sebastian Sronce play bass and lead guitar respectively, and Tim Ilko and Rick Turcotte handle all the drums and percussion. In terms of the show, our guests can plan to walk away having experienced all of Neil Diamond’s greatest hits. A typical 2-set performance runs approximately 2.5 hours and includes 28 songs, Diamond trivia, and fun ways for the audience to participate in the show! Wearing sequins is not required, but highly encouraged!

    Renaissance Quartet

Last season, violinist Randall Goosby carried a sold-out audience to the highest heights of emotion as the last-minute soloist replacement for the London Philharmonic Orchestra's triumphant concert. A flood of rapturous audience testimonials meant it became a must to welcome him back quickly. Renaissance Quartet, founded in 2021 by Goosby, violinist Jeremiah Blacklow, violist Jameel Martin, and cellist Daniel Hass, is making waves with a welcoming approach to the string quartet format. Communicative engagement and technical finesse allow the four Juilliard School graduates to launch from their classical base into the 21st-century stratosphere with a dynamic blend of soul, R&B, hip-hop, and jazz. Their boundary-pushing performances are virtuosic and engaging, creating a new space for chamber music to thrive. Making a cultural statement in sound with high-energy artistry and gorgeously programmed to whisk you away early into a fall weekend, the Renaissance Quartet is a must-see for encountering classical music's centuries-long story with new chapters written right now.

    Magnificat: Lifting up the lowly

Magnificat: Lifting Up the Lowly is a concert program weaving together the sacred and secular in response to human suffering and oppression. Framed by the canticle, the Song of Mary, it speaks of God who has scattered the proud, brought down the powerful, lifted up the lowly, and filled the hungry with good things. The concert features the glorious Magnificat by J.S. Bach, performed by students and faculty from the Program in Sacred Music at Notre Dame. From the secular realm, Dmitri Shostakovich's intensely personal Chamber Symphony (from his Eighth String Quartet) bears witness to 20th-century suffering. Dedicated to victims of war and fascism everywhere, the work is said to be autobiographical even as it references pogroms against Jews and a patriotic song set as a lament. The program also includes Joaquin Rodrigos exquisite Fantasía para un gentilhombre (Fantasia for a Gentleman), performed by the acclaimed Italian guitarist Nicolò Spera. Rodrigo, who was blind, crafted this lovely work on 17th-century Spanish Baroque dances, creating a beautiful musical connection to Bach's era.

UZIMA! Drum and Dance Company returns with another unforgettable evening of powerful music, movement, and storytelling. Rescheduled from the 2024/2025 season, ASHE: Prepare Ye the Way is a journey down the road less traveled, following in the footsteps of trailblazers such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mary Church Terrell, and other visionaries who paved the way for peace and progress.
